How To Make Your Blog Accessible
No one wakes up in the morning and says "Hmm, how can I make sure that people who are blind can't read my blog?" However, some of our choices can create barriers for people who want to read what we have to say.
Inspired by Mark Pilgrim's classic series Dive Into Accessibility, this guide will show you how to make changes so that everyone can enjoy your blog. Not every tip will be 100% applicable to every type of blog, but I invite you to learn about each tip and figure out if it's right for you.
Some of the tips may also provide benefits for search engine visibility and viewing your blog using mobile phones. Whenever a particular tip has those benefits, I'll make sure to mention it. But first and foremost, the emphasis will be on making sure that for people with disabilities, the door on your blog says "Welcome" instead of "Do Not Enter."
This list is a work in progress. Subscribe to this blog's feed to find out when new tips are added.
